Description

Celebrate Nissan’s storied motorsports heritage with this Vintage Nissan Datsun Racecar Trio T-Shirt, featuring a vibrant design of three iconic racing machines: the 1971 Datsun BRE 510 #46, the 1970 Datsun 240Z #33, and the Nissan 300ZX #75. Each car represents a pivotal moment in Nissan's racing dominance, from the groundbreaking BRE team led by Peter Brock to the global triumphs at Le Mans.

History

Nissan, under the Datsun brand, became a motorsports powerhouse during the 1960s and 1970s, particularly in SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) racing. The breakthrough came with the BRE (Brock Racing Enterprises) team, led by Peter Brock, which fielded cars like the Datsun 2000 Roadster and the legendary 510 sedan. The 510's lightweight design and independent suspension made it a championship-winning machine, highlighted by John Morton's victory in the 1971 Trans Am 2.5-liter class.

In addition to Morton, other notable drivers included Paul Newman, who gained fame racing Datsun 280ZX models under Bob Sharp Racing, and drivers like Jim Fitzgerald, who also saw success with the Z series cars. The Datsun 240Z dominated SCCA C Production races, with drivers such as Sharp himself showcasing its speed and reliability. Nissan’s innovation extended globally, culminating in a 1994 Le Mans win with the 300ZX, driven by Steve Millen and teammates John Morton and Johnny O'Connell
