The Nissan R32 Skyline GT-R, launched in 1989, marked the revival of the GT-R nameplate after a 16-year hiatus. Nicknamed "Godzilla" by the Australian press, it dominated motorsports with its advanced ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive system and Super-HICAS four-wheel steering. Powered by the RB26DETT 2.6L twin-turbo inline-six engine, it produced 276 hp (officially, though actual output was higher), adhering to Japan’s “Gentleman’s Agreement” on horsepower limits.

The R32 GT-R became legendary in Group A racing, winning the Japanese Touring Car Championship (JTCC) every year from 1990 to 1993 and even challenging European competitors at the Bathurst 1000. Its influence laid the foundation for future GT-R models, making it one of the most revered JDM cars of all time.
