History

The Canadian Grand Prix (Grand Prix du Canada) has been a staple of Formula 1 since its debut in 1967. Initially held at Mosport Park and Circuit Mont-Tremblant, it moved permanently to Circuit Île Notre-Dame in Montreal in 1978, later renamed Circuit Gilles Villeneuve to honor the legendary Canadian driver.

The race is known for dramatic moments, including the famous "Wall of Champions" at Turn 14, where multiple F1 greats have crashed. Iconic races include Jean Alesi’s only F1 win (1995), Jenson Button’s epic last-to-first victory in 2011, and Lewis Hamilton’s first-ever F1 win in 2007. With its mix of high-speed straights, tight chicanes, and passionate fans, the Canadian GP remains one of the most exciting and unpredictable races on the F1 calendar.
